Wilson Bentley, a small boy in Vermont, saw snowflakes as small miracles. Over time he began to capture the wonder of these tiny snowflakes by taking pictures to save each snowflake and to share them with others. Often, people didn’t understand his enthusiasm for such work, but with patience and determination, Bentley discovered that no two snowflakes are alike and that each one is uniquely beautiful. Some of the activities in this unit are making tape resist snowflakes, shoveling "snow" (cotton balls), and cutting coffee filter snowflakes.
